God used the plague on the firstborn to bring both the Egyptians and the Israelites to a place of unconditional surrender. For Pharaoh and his officials it was a defiant surrender unto judgment. For God’s covenant people it was a helpless surrender unto grace as they received the mercy of His deliverance through the blood of the Lamb. Such mercy is available to all who look to Christ, the ultimate Passover Lamb of God.
