As the book of Esther ends, we are left with two snapshots of rulers. The first is of a king whom no one would miss. The second is of a king-like leader whose rule was just but ultimately limited and temporary. The book leaves us longing for a better and eternal King, hinting at the Savior who would bring true peace to His people. Jesus Christ is the perfect King we long for, whose eternal reign guarantees our life and security forever.
