Rev. John RohrmanApril 16, 2023Passage: 2 Chronicles 34:1-35:27
Our study of 2 Chronicles has taught us to evaluate the kings of Judah on the basis of all of their deeds—and especially how they finish—not just how they begin. How then should we judge Josiah, who did more right than anyone before or after him (see 2 Kings 23:25), but whose final deed was a defiant and foolish sin that was reminiscent of wicked King Ahab? How also should we think about our own salvation if we commit a serious sin in our final hours or days? As we consider these questions, we will look not only to our sermon text but the whole counsel of Scripture, which testifies to Christ as the basis for our assurance and confidence on the day of judgment.
