Creativity and originality are excellent qualities to exercise except when it comes to the gospel message! The Christian’s charge is to preserve and pass on the good news of Jesus Christ just as it is received through Scripture alone. Our mission is not to reinvent, re-envision, or reinterpret the message, but to cherish, guard, and defend the sacred truth that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. At the very end of his first letter to Timothy, Paul commands that which is most essential—to guard the gospel—while proclaiming the grace that makes such guarding possible.
